Welcome From Our New Principal, Susan Leggett
Dear Parents and Guardians:
It is with honor and great pleasure that I greet you as the new principal of the William L. Buck School. I have been privileged to have spent twenty-nine wonderful years as an educator working and enjoying students of all ages. I have been a member of the Valley Stream School District 24 for the past twenty-six years; serving as a Speech Language Pathologist, Early Intervention Teacher and Classroom Teacher.
I look forward to partnering with staff and families to provide our students with a rigorous, engaging, and high-quality school experience. I believe that academics are a very important part of education; I also believe in making sure each child feels cherished. My goal as your principal is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment that focuses on the best possible academic instruction to meet the needs of each student.
As a parent myself, I recognize the importance of a strong home-school connection. Parents are every child’s first teacher and I believe that by working together, we can make sure your child’s social, emotional, and academic needs are met. I believe that great schools are the result of great teachers. My primary objective will be to ensure that every teacher receives the necessary support to provide high-quality instruction for our children.
I will be available and would welcome the opportunity to meet with you on August 21 and 22, 2017, anytime between the hours of 8:00 am and 12 pm. I am looking forward to visiting with you.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve your families in this role. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns you would like to share.
