Welcome From Our Principal, Susan Leggett
Dear Parents and Guardians:
Welcome returning and new families to the 2018-2019 school year. The staff and I are energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of all children. We are ready to “Look for the Awesome” at the William L. Buck School.
At the William L. Buck School our educational foundations are universal. We treat each other with dignity and respect, we engage in meaningful and rigorous work and we believe that all members of our school community should be constantly learning and growing.
Our Board of Education and our District Administration provide continuous support for our students and community. We are proud of our 1:1 technology initiative. We set high standards for literacy with the Superkids Reading Program in grades K-2 and the Journeys Reading Program in grades 3-6. The Go-Math Curriculum in all grades, combines 21st Century technology with modern content and real world applications. Our well rounded curriculum combines an appreciation for the arts, mental and physical health and an emphasis on social and emotional learning.
Education is a joint venture between school and home. We extend to you a year-long invitation to join us at school activities and events. We want and value your involvement and support in your child’s education. With this in mind, we invite you to participate in the William L. Buck Parent Teacher Association. This is an amazing group of parents and staff that work tirelessly for our students and families.
Your partnership and support are key elements to ensuring that we are able to maximize each student’s educational and personal development. You will have the opportunity to meet the faculty at our Back-To-School evening event on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. It is a wonderful opportunity to visit your child’s classroom, begin to form relationships with teachers, as well as learn about curriculum and special activities.
The staff and I are eagerly waiting to welcome you to another wonderful school year and look forward to seeing families and students very soon!
