We are pleased to inform you that your child’s report card will be available through the parent portal.
The parent portal is completely secure and will only permit access to a parent/guardian of his/her own child once registered. The parent portal will allow utilizing the internet, viewing your child’s most recent report card, schedule and attendance. You will have access to the parent portal by registering as described below, 7 days a week 24 hrs a day.
Here are the steps for registration:
Click on the link –Parent Portal that appears on our website: www.valleystreamschooldistrict24.org
You should now be on “Welcome to the portal for parents and students” page.
Click on Parent Portal Registration – this will be found at the bottom of the box.
You will be asked to enter specific information. To gain access, information that you provide must match the information that we have in our student management system. You will be required to provide:
Account information – school district (Valley Stream School District 24), you will create your own user name, password and security question. After you finish with the account information, click on “Create Account information”
Personal information - you will need to input your name, address (cannot be a P.O. Box) and phone numbers. When complete, click on “Create Personal information”
Student information – you will need to add your child’s full name, school grade level and student ID #. You will receive the student ID # at your parent teacher conference in the month of November. The student ID# will be at the top right corner of the progress report. After you have completed the student information, click on “Create Account”. Please note: you must complete all of the information that is followed by a RED *.
Approval to access the Parent Portal:
A message will display confirming that registration has been completed successfully. Within a few days, the information that you provided will be compared to the information that we currently have for your child. If the information matches, you will receive a confirmation email which will provide a link to activate the account. Please check your email (once the account is approved) you can log in using the username and password that was created at the time of registration. The first time you log in, you will have to confirm your password information. After that, each time you log into the portal, you will be able to view district and building information. To see your child’s report card and other information, click on – Student ID# in BLUE.
Every Tuesday starting on November 7, 2017 through January 23, 2018, there will be a Technology Representative available to assist you with the registration process between the hours 3:30PM to 5:30PM, in each building.
If you have any questions, or are unable to access a computer with an internet connection, please contact your building principal. The principal will work with you to schedule time to have access to a computer.
Welcome to the Valley Stream School District Twenty-four Portal for Parents. Access the parent portal for your child's attendance and report card. Soon, you will be able to view your child's schedule. Registration is needed in order to access the portal. A letter will be enclosed with your child's report card. Dear Parent /Guardian:
It has been brought to my attention that some parents/guardians do not want their child’s picture posted on the Parent Portal. If you want to have your child’s picture removed, you can follow the steps outlined below: 1. Log in to the portal. 2. Click on the upper right hand corner icon – person icon (my account). 3. Then click on the tab that is labeled as picture setting (on the upper left side fourth tab). 4. Then you will see your children’s names listed. 5. To the right of the name there will be a box that says do not show. 6. Click on the do not show box. 7. Then to the right and down one line you will see a box that says update settings. 8. Click on the update settings box. If you follow the steps listed above, your child’s picture will be removed. If you have any questions regarding this process or are unable to access a computer with an internet connection, please contact your building principal. I would like to remind you that the Parent Portal is secure and will only permit a parent/guardian to view the records of his/her child.

Below, are some important dates to reference as we move through the 2017-2018 school year. Please be sure to check in with our website frequently throughout the school year for additional information and updates.
Important Report Card Dates:
· Marking Period 2: January 26, 2018
· Marking Period 3: April 20, 2018
· Marking Period 4: June 22, 2018
Please note that the end of the grading period occurs the day before report cards are available on the parent portal. This allows the teachers the opportunity to finalize any assignments that must be graded and recorded, along with submitting the final grades for each grading period. While the parent portal will be open to the parent/guardian, the grades will be posted on the date mentioned above for each marking period.
Important Reminders for Parental Portal Registration:
· Please go to our district website www.valleystreamdistrict24.org and visit the parent portal
· By visiting the parent portal you can register by clicking on the eschool link, once connected follow the step by step prompts to register
· If you are having difficulty with registration please contact your school’s main office, we will gladly walk you through the process (step by step directions of registration can be found on our website in any language)
· If you do NOT have access to wifi/computer/printer please contact your child’s principal
· Some parents will still receive an envelope from the support service staff on paper (Speech, Math, Reading)
It will be necessary for you to register on the parent portal in order to receive your child’s complete report card. We have hosted parent information sessions throughout the month of November, every Tuesday from 3:30-5:30. If you have any questions regarding our new parent portal registration processes we hope you will make an appointment in the months of December and January by contacting your child’s school.
